Newly elected Republican House Members have banned together to create the “Freedom Force,” a group made up of women and people of color. The group is looking to oppose “The Squad,” which includes progressive leaders such as Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib and position themselves as the conservative counterweight.
The Freedom Force’s goal is to push a message of individual liberty while protecting small business-owners. Members will push against the agenda of the radical left and protect the middle class through pledging freedom and a love for our country. The New GOP band includes Reps.-elect Malliotakis, Michelle Steel, Stephanie Bice, Victoria Spartz, Carlos Gimenez, Maria Elvira Salazar, and Byron Donalds.
Four of the incoming Reps have personal experience with communist or socialist countries. US Rep-elect Malliotakis talked about her shared experience fighting big government back in Cuba, where her mother is from. She mentioned that they would serve as the counterbalance to the values of the socialist squad fighting against their principles of dismantling the economy, destroying free-market principles, endorsing the Green New Deal, and packing the courts.
“It was a natural alliance that formed. … We understand what it’s like in other countries. We understand how truly special this nation is and we look forward to working together to push back on anyone who tries to bring a socialist agenda to America,” said Rep. Malliotakis.
The Green New Deal has received a ton of negative backlash from the American people since it would cost trillions of dollars and throw hefty electricity prices on poor people in urban corridors. However, any alternatives to the top-down draconian socialist policies have yet to be proposed.
Rep. Byron Donalds sat down with America’s Newsroom to talk about ways in which the Freedom Force will be fighting the weight of government regulation and government bureaucracy with their own energy complex ideas. He also talked about the COVID-19 pandemic and the biggest struggle small businesses have been having in accessing capital.
“Why does that happen? It happens because of policies like Dodd-Frank which have, frankly, killed community banks in our country, so, small business owners don’t have those banking relationships. Those are the types of policies that we need to unwind and we need to stop the people like the Squad, the people on the left, from pushing those terrible policies that are actually hurtful to the American people,” said Rep. Donalds.
The Freedom Force is looking to help young people understand the dangers of socialist ideology and leverage social media to a newly elected generation of Republicans. While GOP members have different cultures and backgrounds, their commonwealth is connected through a love for our country and ensuring that we stay free.
