There was a recent ‘leaked’ phone conversation between Barack Obama and Attorney General Bill Bar of the Department of Justice. Obama was saying that dismissing the charges against Gen. Michael Flynn is a “rule of law at risk.” Barr then said there was no legitimate investigation behind Flynn and the interview they had previously had with him was just a “perjury trap” meant to target him without any criminal rationale for doing so.
Obama called this “unprecedented” and falsely claimed Flynn was charged with perjury. Barr explained how there was no problem with Flynn’s contact with the Russian ambassador and that the FBI knew everything said on the call. There was nothing improper about it.
“The fact that there is no precedent that anybody can find for someone who has been charged with perjury just getting off scot-free. That’s the kind of stuff where you begin to get worried that basic — not just institutional norms — but our basic understanding of rule of law is at risk. And when you start moving in those directions, it can accelerate pretty quickly as we’ve seen in other places.” Obama said about the Justice Department dropping charges against Michael Flynn.
Reporters then ripped apart Obama’s argument, including the observation that this in fact had been done under the Obama Justice Department. The Obama Justice Department had dismissed cases in the past including the Stevens case by Attorney General Eric Holder for the exact same reason: misconduct by prosecutors. It was done by the same judge too, Judge Sullivan. So much for unprecedented.
In the past, Obama has also pardoned a general in 2017 for pleading guilty to charges of lying to the FBI. Cartwright was not charged with leaking anything but only a material “lie” that he used to try to deceive the FBI. There was an actual real criminal predicate for going after him yet no FBI effort to entrap him, unlike the Flynn case. So Obama actually pardoned someone who did worse than what Flynn was accused of.
Let’s also not forget the clemency Obama and his administration granted to Oscar Lopez Rivera, one of the Marxist terrorist organization’s front-men. A man who recruited and trained a small army of terrorists to murder his fellow Americans and build bomb factories. When he was put on trial he showed no remorse and admitted to doing all he had been accused of.
Despite the fact that Lopez Rivera refused to show remorse, Obama still let the Marxist terrorist out. Talk about unprecedented…
