During the ABC News town hall last week, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden falsely claimed that the Boilermakers Union had endorsed him for president.
The Boilermakers Union is a diverse union representing workers throughout the United States, training and committing the skilled craftsmen and industrial workers of tomorrow. Their website has made it clear that they do not endorse anyone. They believe that your vote is a personal decision and you have the right to vote for the candidates and issues you choose.
This is a very different response than the one Joe Biden gave regarding his position on fracking. While he and Harris have faced harsh criticism for being vague on how they address fracking, their position remains unclear. They talk about shutting down fossil fuels, including coal and fracking, in a Biden Administration, during a 2019 debate with Dana Bash then changed the tone when addressing more targeted audiences, such as key battleground states like Pennsylvania. In Pennsylvania, Biden claimed that the new fracking ban on federal property would only impact a small percentage of overall fracking.
During the most recent town hall, George Stephanopoulos brought up Biden’s ban on fracking. He asked the Democratic nominee to address a piece from the New York Times, by a Boilermakers Local 154 member, that says his goal is inconsistent with the end of using fossil fuels.
“The boilermakers overwhelmingly endorse me, okay? So the Boilermakers Union has endorsed me because I sat down with them, went into great detail with leadership, exactly what I would do, number one,” Biden responded.
However, this comment came back to bite him after voters checked the International Boilermakers Union website where they made it clear that they do not endorse anyone. They did not even endorse Obama or Joe Biden last time because of energy issues. While they do not have a union-wide endorsement for president, Local 154 business leader John Hughes did endorse President Trump in a September message.
“It is with great honor that I write this letter to endorse your campaign as you run for re-election of the President of the United States,” Hughes said. “I am happy to support your administration as you have proven to be a true friend of the Boilermakers, and I wish you the best of luck in your campaign,” it reads.
We shouldn’t be surprised that Joe Biden was caught in another web of lies. He keeps trying to please the radical left so that they fill his pockets, while still addressing the rest of his party. It’s not working for him anymore.
