This Violent Story Turned Out To Be Fake

Following days of violent riots and looting in cities across the country, Washington, D.C., has announced a 7PM curfew, about the same time President Donald Trump addressed the nation from the Rose Garden then walked through Lafayette Park to St. John’s Episcopal Church, which rioters had set on fire the night before.

The speech returned the conversation to rule of law and protection of civil liberties. The conversation at hand, from the left media, had a completely different narrative. They didn’t acknowledge the church fires, only criticizing President Trump holding a bible in front of the church. Every single major media outlet spun violent tales on how the Park Police had cleared the area for President Trump by using tear gas on innocent protestors.

It turns out that none of this was actually true…shocker.

If any of it were true, well, it would’ve been the first time in history that cops without gas masks launched tear gas in an area that the president of the United States easily walked through minutes later. After the thousands of false tweets and stories swarming around, local journalist Neal Augunstein of WTOP reported that a Park Police source said tear gas was never used. Smoke canisters were deployed, which don’t have an uncomfortable irritant in them.

The crowd had dispersed because projectiles such as bricks, frozen water bottles, and caustic liquids were being thrown by the “peaceful protestors” and then those same “peaceful protestors” had started climbing the top of a structure in Lafayette Park that had been burned the prior night.

Even Sgt. Eduardo Delgado, the public information officer for the Park Police, confirmed that the agency did not use tear gas. The agency reports “As many of the protestors became more combative, continued to throw projectiles, and attempted to grab officers’ weapons, officers then employed the use of smoke canisters and pepper balls. No tear gas was used by USPP officers or other assisting law enforcement partners to close the area at Lafayette Park. Subsequently, the fence was installed.”

Media outlets were posting videos claiming U.S Park Police were using tear gas. The video did not show any such thing. The New York Times reported false headlines. Washington Post Reporters claimed they were tear-gassed in reporting these stories. MSNBC has falsely reported the tear gas claims. The list goes on…of course, all left-wing media platforms.

The entire narrative of the left is this: Trump is a monster who tear-gassed peaceful protestors to do something meaningless. But of course it took a day of reporting to get the truth, long after the lie took hold. It seems there is no end to which the media won’t lie to accomplish their political goals.

But in other news, polls have shown that overwhelming majorities of Americans support the use of the National Guard and the military to bring peace to the cities the media claims aren’t being targeted by violent riots. Let’s see how the narrative is spun this time…
