Sleepy Joe, You Can’t Have Both…

Republican Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton has made it abundantly clear that he thinks Joe Biden is China’s perfect choice for President.

“The Democratic Party has always been weak on national security when it comes to China. But some credit is due when it comes to China’s atrocious human-rights record and its theft of American jobs. For a generation, prominent Democrats loudly criticized Beijing on these fronts…Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi have been long standing China trade hawks, for instance. Even a socialist like Bernie Sanders has been a reliable critic.” Cotton says.

Joe Biden’s long standing support for China is too deep and things are being taken to a whole new level. When the Chinese Communist party gained strength and Xi Jinping seized absolute power, Biden continued to push for closer ties and even more trade. In February 2012 Biden praised Beijing as a ‘new partner’ that would help to meet ‘global challenges.’ Joe insisted, at the time, that this move would help companies develop better products and services and our government to craft better policies. Because of this, millions of Americans lost their jobs.

The Biden family profited from all of this. Joe’s son Hunter was welcome onto the board of a private equity firm out of Shanghai. So, of course, China was quite pleased when Joe announced his running into the 2020 Presidential Campaign.

As Biden hammers down on how production is three times faster he also isn’t exactly cracking down and hammering on important issues such as the Chinese fentanyl trafficking and threats to the world’s telecommunications infrastructure.

Even when President Trump took measures to protect America from further COVID-19 infection, Biden called the Chinese travel ban “hysterical.”

“We have, right now, a crisis with the coronavirus. This is no time for Donald Trump’s record of hysteria and xenophobia – hysterical xenophobia – and fear mongering to lead the way instead of science.” As reported by The Hill on January 1st in a Biden interview.

The xenophobia angle has been a go-to for Trump critics, and frankly, it is beating a dead horse. And speaking of allegations, the Left have always claimed the President to be a Russian agent. So I guess two can play at that game in saying that Biden is a Chinese spy, right? But at least China knows, Biden will always take their side. Over yours, of course. Even if he wants to sound tougher on China than Trump, that would backfire on him diplomatically in the long run.

The U.S-China policies will become even more complicated thanks to the might of a tiny virus. And thanks to an ad by Biden claiming that Trump was too willing to accept Chinese government explanations in the early days of the virus, turning against China got him an enormous backlash from Asian-Americans. “This kind of fear mongering is causing violent attacks on Asian Americans” tweeted Cecilia Wang, a deputy legal director at the national ACLU.

Biden’s ad wasn’t nuanced enough to avoid fallout for Asian-American communities. While the Trump Administration has in many ways taken a hard line towards China, from imposing tariffs to limiting access to China’s state-controlled journalists to calling out Chinese leaders for their human rights violation against Muslims and in Hong Jong, sleepy Joe is off making poor quality ads that are still offending people. Then there’s the question about his son Hunter’s business activities in China at all. Either way, he’s for China. He’s against China. Which is it?

In the wake of the coronavirus, Biden is living in a jingoistic fantasy where he can’t respond to anything properly. Joe and Hunter snuggle with China and their company for however odd many years and now he’s whipping out China-bashing ads attacking their government. You love them or you hate them but you can’t have both. Make up your mind, Joe.
