After rioters stormed the Capitol building rejecting the Electoral College Vote results, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez decided it was the best time to call on Republican Sens. Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley to resign or face expulsion from the Congress for supporting President Trump questioning the certification of the Electoral College Vote.
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez wrote to Sen. Cruz on Twitter that both congressmen should resign and accept responsibility for how their “craven, self-serving actions contributed to the deaths of four people yesterday.” She also claimed that they fundraised off of the riot and that if they do not resign, then the Senate will move for their expulsion.
People pointed out the left’s hypocrisy in how they condemned the Capitol riots, yet supported the ‘defund the police’ riots that burned and destroyed thousands of small businesses last summer. Someone even reposted an AOC tweet from early December where she promoted protests and talked about making people uncomfortable by starting with small demands against the status quo.
Sen. Cruz called AOC ‘a liar’ for trying to link ensuring election integrity with the despicable terrorists who attacked the Capitol. He reiterated that violence is always unacceptable, even when passions run high. He called on those who engaged in criminal violence against the Capitol to be fully prosecuted under the law.
“I ain’t going anywhere. When you and your socialist buddies try to massively raise taxes, when you try to pass the green new deal & destroy millions of jobs, when you push for amnesty, when you try to pack the Supreme Court w/ activists to undermine our Constitutional rights…I will fight that every step & stand with the People,” Sen. Cruz tweeted back to AOC.
The radical left and dozens of other lawmakers have called for invoking the 25th Amendment, which says that if the President becomes unable to do his job, the Vice President becomes the President. They accused President Trump of being ‘deeply unstable’ and inciting an attack on Congress. AOC called on the Cabinet and Congress to pursue impeachment and removal of President Trump, even though he has repeatedly condemned the violence against the Capitol building.
“I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!” President Trump tweeted.
Trump derangement syndrome will have the radical left pointing the blame at President Trump when it is not his fault, but his supporters’ fault. But hey, liberals love holding others accountable for their own actions.
