Moments after Amy Coney Barrett was confirmed by the Senate into the Supreme Court, radical left politicians began declaring that this move goes against the will of the American people and that they “won’t forget” this moment.
Democratic vice presidential nominee, Sen. Kamala Harris, was one of the many liberals expressing rage over the Barrett Confirmation on Twitter with a message regarding the “illegitimate” process of it all.
“Today Republicans denied the will of the American people by confirming a Supreme Court justice through an illegitimate process—all in their effort to gut the Affordable Care Act and strip health care from millions with pre-existing conditions. We won’t forget this,” Harris tweeted.
Barrett was confirmed with a 52 to 48 vote and, according to a Gallup poll released a week ago, a slight majority of the American people supported Barrett’s confirmation. 51% supported the U.S Supreme Court seat being filled, 46% did not want Barrett to be seated, and 3% did not have an opinion of her nomination. It was the highest on record having 84% of Democrats against Barrett’s nomination, which exceeds the 67% who opposed Kavanaugh shortly after his nomination.
There is nothing “illegitimate” about filling a vacancy in the U.S Supreme Court. The President’s job is to nominate and the Senate’s job is to confirm. The Trump Administration had 3 months left before the election season. This is the same process that House Democrats used every time to fill a SCOTUS seat, but it is now “illegitimate” because they don’t like it.
Others have suggested “packing the court” if they manage to win the presidency and the Senate in November. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez implied that Republicans do terrible things because they don’t believe Democrats can play hardball against a “broken system.” It’s a bit ironic to think you are a part of the resistance when 99% of the mainstream news outlets are on your side and pushing your political views.
“Republicans do this because they don’t believe Dems have the stones to play hardball like they do. And for a long time, they’ve been correct. But do not let them bully the public into thinking their bulldozing is normal but a response isn’t. There is a legal process for expansion,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
Barrett is a devout Christian with conservative beliefs and, because of that, the radical left believes she is out to torch Roe v. Wade, rip up the ACA, and then force every woman to live under the rule of the patriarchy. They will stop at nothing to fuel the public with fear tactics and rage, all because the House Republicans legally appointed a Supreme Court in accordance with the Constitution.
The people voted and Amy Coney Barrett is who they wanted.
