Democratic lawmakers came forward with a single article of impeachment against President Trump, claiming that he used Twitter and his rallies to incite his supporters to attack the U.S Capitol building. This was based on lawsuits that the President had against the fraudulent election results in several states.

The lawsuit was introduced by Reps. David Cicilline, Ted Lieu, Jamie Raskin, and Jerrold Nadler. They declared that President Trump willfully incited violence against the Government of the United States and that he tried to interfere with the constitutional duty of certifying the results of the 2020 Presidential Election.

The impeachment article states that the President “unlawfully breached and vandalized the Capitol, injured and killed law enforcement personnel, menaced Members of Congress, the Vice President and Congressional personnel, and engaged in other violent, deadly, destructive, and seditious acts.”

Many supporters have pointed out that the violent riots were disconnected from the election results protests entirely and that the President did not stir up any violence. He had told his supporters to peacefully protest the rigged results of the election and patriotically make their voices heard. He condemned the violence at the Capitol and had told everyone who was protesting to respect and honor the men and women in blue.

Several high-profile politicians, including Sen. Joe Manchin, called it “so ill-advised” for the House Democrats to attempt a second impeachment while the country is so divided and we have a new President coming in. He also claimed that by the time the Senate would look to convict him, he’d already be out of office.

“Let the judicial system do its job. We are country to roll along, that’s the bedrock of who we are. Let that take its place. Let the investigations go on and evidence come forth and then we will go forth from there,” Manchin said.

He also asked Democrats to look at what they are doing to our country and ask themselves if it’s worth it. “We are better than this,” he added.

Impeachment is nothing more than a political action. The Democrat Party has nothing to gain by impeaching President Trump, other than furthering division in the country. It takes time away from the issues that actually matter, like funding small businesses and opening up the economy.

The Democrats didn’t have a legal case the last time and they’ll try to skirt the legal system for an impeachment again this time. 70 million+ people voted for President Trump and moving towards this impeachment is not good for the country moving forward. It’s only ever about “unity” on their terms.
