U.S Rep. Ken Buck just called on Attorney General William Barr to appoint a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden’s overseas business dealings and the contents of his purported laptop. In emails obtained by the NY Post, the son of president-elect Joe Biden offered access to his father to help land business deals in China and Ukraine.
“Americans have the right to know whether Mr. Biden’s reported ties to foreign governments will make him the subject of blackmail attempts or other nefarious efforts to undermine U.S. national security or otherwise improperly influence American foreign policy,” the letter reads.
Rep. Buck explains in the letter that the investigation is critical in defending the integrity of our government and ensuring that the Biden administration will not be the subject of foreign interference. He insists that by appointing a special counsel, the attorney general can guarantee the security of our republic free from political interference, no matter who is in the White House.
Biden claimed that his son never accepted any jobs that would conflict with his presidency, even though the emails tell a different story. Hunter had landed his $83,000 monthly salary job on the board of Burisma Holdings under the Obama administration’s Ukraine policy.
A Ukrainian executive of the company even thanked Hunter in an email for the opportunity to meet Joe. The exchange was sent a year before the former vice president had pressured Ukraine government officials into firing Viktor Shokin, a prosecutor who was investigating the company.
Hunter also inked a deal with the state-owned Bank of China to create the $1 billion investment fund called Bohai Harvest RST. He flew with his father on Air Force Two in December 2013 to China where Joe met several of Hunter’s Chinese partners, including Chinese private equity executive Jonathan Li. Biden was forced to step down from the board in 2019 after President Trump called out the corruption in the Biden family. Li eventually became the CEO of Bohai Harvest RST.
Rep. Buck indicates the contents of the emails could be “potentially incriminating” and that a proper investigation would ensure the safety of the American people. The FBI has not confirmed or denied the existence of the investigation, but the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs is also investigating Hunter’s foreign business deals.
The letter comes days after Barr appointed U.S Attorney John Durham to continue the investigations of the Russia probe into the Biden administration. He is authorized to investigate any federal official, employee, or other person in connection with the intelligence, counter-intelligence, or law-enforcement activities directed at President Trump’s presidential campaign, as well as the investigation of Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller.
Democrats have spent four years baselessly investigating President Trump’s relationship with Russia and leading the witch hunt against Mueller. Now it’s time to reap what they sow and investigate everybody ever associated with Joe Biden and his son. Sleepy Joe can’t be sworn in if he’s convicted of a felony.
