The Michigan Conservative Coalition recently demanded that the Republican-controlled state Senate conducts an audit of the state’s 2020 election. Similar to the audit in Arizona, Michigan Conservative Coalition co-founder Marian Sheridan said that there has been an overwhelming number of people demanding a true audit in the state of Michigan and that voters know something went very wrong in the count.

According to a recent poll, 70% of Republicans and 40% of Democrats believe some form of cheating was involved in 2020.

“To ever have confidence in our election system, we need to know what actually happened in 2020. We need to know how to prevent it in the future, Through this affidavit process, thousands of Michigan voters are demanding a forensic audit of the 2020 Michigan election. It will be up to our elected officials to either hear or continue to ignore the voices of the people of their state,” Sheridan said.

There have been over 7,000 notarized affidavits demanding an audit of Michigan’s elections, as allowed by the Michigan constitution. The affidavits will be delivered to Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey and confirmed by a service system.

Republican Secretary of State candidate Kristina Karamo, who’d just returned from Arizona, said she really liked the transparency of election officials in Maricopa County. She said it was critical to know that the audits were being run with integrity and said she liked the “checks and balances” within the election process. She said she felt encouraged for Michigan state legislators to do the exact same thing and adds that election audits aren’t about partisanship, but integrity.

Matt Seely, a spokesperson for the Michigan Conservative Coalition said that the deep-dive audit would do either one of two things: Prove to politicians that there’s nothing to see there or prove that there’s a big problem with election systems and addressing integrity. He also pointed out how some swing state governors changed their rules and procedures right before the 2020 election, using COVID-19 as an excuse for the last-minute legislation.

A Rasmussen poll also revealed that a large number of Democrats believe the election, in general, was stolen. The poll asked voters how likely it was that Democrats stole votes or destroyed pro-Trump ballots in their states to ensure a Biden win. While 61-75% of Republicans voted very likely, 20-30% of Democrats also voted with the same answer.

Most GOP lawmakers have questioned why Democrats continue to stop audits from taking place. If there’s “nothing to see there,” then what’s the harm in proving that to the public? While it only took 150 affidavits to get the attention of Arizona legislators, the state of Michigan needed over 7,000. What’s there to hide?
