On a recent Fox News ‘America Report,’ host Sandra Smith and co-host John Roberts grilled White House medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci for repeatedly changing his talking points, specifically regarding what he has said about opening up schools. His guidelines regarding the state of vaccine distribution, masks, and government-mandated lockdowns also run counter to the ‘comprehensive plan’ he had developed under the Trump Administration.
Roberts asked Dr. Fauci if things were “such a mess” under the Trump Administration and he was a part of that team, what was in place at that time? The medical advisor refused to rehash that issue and said that it was ‘not productive.’
Smith asked about dem-run places like New York and Chicago where draconian lockdowns were imposed without being backed by science, hurting thousands of small businesses. Gov. Andrew Cuomo had refused in-person dining to reopen, even when statistics showed that restaurants are not a major source of outbreak.
“We need to be able to get resources that if indoor dining is going to be prohibited, we’ve got to have help to the owners of those organizations so they don’t go under during a period of time when we’re trying to correct and get our arms around this outbreak,” Dr. Fauci said.
This led to Smith’s next point – Are we following the science or the funding? She asked if kids could safely go back to the classroom if they’re following CDC guidance.
“What the science tells us is the following – that children in school right now, it appears, that if you follow the safety guidelines of the CDC that they are less likely to be getting infected than the community rate of infection,” he starts off.
Dr. Fauci goes on to talk about how schools can reopen but “may require additional funding,” meaning the money that was seen forth in President Biden’s $1.9 trillion package. Thousands of schools across the country have already reopened without a special check from the federal government. No teachers have not reported any major outbreaks. Statistics have shown that children aren’t a good carrier of the virus and don’t transmit the virus very well. Arguably, an adult would be safer at a school than the grocery store.
Smith comments that the goalposts seem to be moving on things like masks and mandates, asking when it would stop. Dr. Fauci argued back that the discussion was “changing,” not the goalposts and that he doesn’t want to meddle in the particulars.
At this point, it seems that Dr. Fauci has never known what to do regarding the pandemic. All he’s interested in is promoting his desired outcomes whether they come anywhere near the definition of science or not.
