Dozens of House Republicans just marched maskless out of the House Chambers and onto the Senate floor in protest of new mask mandates. The Capitol Police were even informed to report members to SAA for failure to comply and arrest anyone who breaks the new mask mandates for the lower chamber. At this point, being vaccinated for sickness with a 99.8% survival rate isn’t even good enough for the Dems. They’ll do anything to keep the mask mandates in place (and have everyone vote by mail).
Texas Rep. Chip Roy was the first who motioned to adjourn the House in protest of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s mandates and enter the Senate Chamber. He was joined by about 50 GOP colleagues, including Reps. Madison Cawthorn, Kat Cammack, and Byron Donalds, to take a strong stance on individual liberty. Speaker Pelosi is willing to arrest vaccinated members of the House for not complying with her mask mandate while we have a crisis at the Border. That should tell you all you need to know.
Pelosi’s spokesperson Drew Hammill even noted that the Speaker of the House “does not control the U.S Capitol Police” and that they were unaware of the memo until it was reported in the press. The Capitol Police emphasized that there is no reason to have somebody arrested and that anybody who does not follow the rules will be asked to wear a mask or leave the premises. They noted concerns of “health and safety” for the Department.
Rep. Cawthorn shared that his communications director Micah Bock had even been stopped by a Capitol Police officer and prevented from entering the building. He was told to “wear a mask to go through security” and then whatever he did after that was his own “concern.” Talk about totalitarian and hypocritical ruling from Speaker Pelosi. “My staff should never fear arrest because they practice individual responsibility,” Cawthorn said.
Videos showed maskless House Republicans walking to the Senate, where masks are not mandated. Other GOP Reps such as Jody Hice, Chip Roy, and Steve Scalise were also seen participating in the protest
The mask mandates have only been mandated on the House side of the Capitol complex by Capitol physician Dr. Brian P. Monahan. Apparently, there is “science” behind COVID-19 being a threat in the House chamber but not the Senate chamber. He was even seen not wearing a mask for at least 45 minutes while briefing the GOP members on his recommendations. When asked about not wearing a mask, he said he was acting under the “recognition rule.” Monahan’s updated recommendations include those who have already been fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
The return of the mask didn’t make any sense to Republicans and it didn’t seem that Monahan cared much for his own guidance.
“Make no mistake – The threat of bringing masks back is not a decision based on science, but a decision conjured up by liberal government officials who want to continue to live in a perpetual pandemic state,” tweeted House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.
Rep. Andy Biggs pointed out that Speaker Pelosi must be an anti-vaxxer if she thinks the vaccines don’t work. She was even filmed maskless by reporters calling out other people for rejecting her mask mandates. To the Democrats, it is “do as I say, not as I do.”
Even though physician Monahan claims he’s “not political,” he’s put his own partisan rules over the Center for Disease Control & Prevention’s guidelines and not even following the rules himself. Claiming the rule only applies to the House Chambers is a political move, not a science one.
Democrats want people afraid for as long as they can, or at least until the 2022 midterm elections. The pandemic is the reason to blame for everything if it can’t be directly blamed on former president Donald Trump.
