On Friday’s CNN “New Day”, Chris Cillizza, network politics reporter and editor at large, gave his predictions on who would get coal and who would receive candy canes. Cillizza claims that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Hara, as well as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, are all receiving coal.
Joe Biden begins 2021 with a high approval rating in the 50s. It looks like he is getting the coronavirus under control and the economy is starting to recover. Omicron is raging and he ends the year in the low 40s in his approval rating. There are some positive signs in the economy, but it was a difficult year overall for the President. So, coal,” Cillizza outlined. Kamala Harris will be included in the coal category. It’s because of many reasons Zolan, Erica and others just mentioned. She has struggled to adjust to the role as every vice president before her. This is not a rare occurrence. It is part of the job. It’s the job of vice president. She has probably struggled a bit. He continued to say that Mitch McConnell is the other person who’s getting coal, and this is not because he had a failed legislative year or something like that. He has become Donald Trump’s number one target. Donald Trump refers to him as the old crow. He attacks him. He wants to find someone to challenge him as Senate leader. John Thune, Mitch McConnell’s second-in-command, is thought to be considering quitting politics. McConnell would also be affected by this. The Republican Party is the last one I would put in the coal category. I consider this to be the most important. This party is led and organized by a man who claims the 2020 election was stolen. This is something we cannot forget. He isn’t just arguing that the election was stolen. He is trying to get people, including secretaries of state and lower-ranking offices, who support the idea that the election was stolen and could, in 2024 reverse it. That is something I believe we must not lose sight of. Those are my four coals.
