You Might Just Get Fired…

Over the past month, the left’s unwillingness to acknowledge the violence that has swept the U.S since the death of George Floyd has been quite unruly. There has been MSNBC reporters standing in front of burning buildings in the middle of a riot saying “This is mostly a protest.” They’ve covered for looters, rioters, cheered for the burnt buildings of Ma and Pa businesses and the police station, but have seemed to have forgotten about social distancing along the way. I mean, how important is coronavirus when we’re fighting “systemic racism” right?

Reporters have stopped trying to hide their bias as they have stopped being journalists and have become full-blown activists. Many on the left have reached Alice in Wonderland territory, unable to see the damage people have done to their own communities.

Matt Taibbi, a contributing editor at the Rolling Stone, is most definitely a liberal. But even he’s aware of the truth and has addressed it in a new article entitled, “The American Press Is Destroying Itself.”

In the article, Taibbi talks about how the left has practically lost their mind. That they’ve become a cowardly mob of upper-class social media addicts who move from discipline to discipline torching reputations and taking away jobs with breathtaking casualness.

“The leaders of this new movement are replacing traditional liberal beliefs about tolerance, free inquiry, and even racial harmony with ideas so toxic and unattractive that they eschew debate, moving straight to shaming, threats, and intimidation.” The article describes a series of “newsroom revolts” where colleagues turn against coworkers because they aren’t being “liberal” enough.

The series of controversies rocked the media and dealt with internal uprisings as most involved groups fired reporters and staffers who’d made politically “problematic” editorial or social media decisions. Taibbi talks about Lee Fang’s interview with Maximum Fr.

Fang, a talented young writer, had talked about the Black Lives Matter movement, where Max talked about two of his cousins being murdered by a black man in the East Oakland neighborhood. Max had said “I always question, why does a black life matter only when a white man takes it? Like, if a white man takes my life tonight, it’s going to be national news, but if a black man takes my life, it might not even be spoken of…It’s stuff just like that that I want in the mix.”

Fang had posted this interview to Twitter and had even questioned the logic of protesters attacking immigrant-owned businesses with no connection to police brutality at all and that Martin Luther King Jr. opposed violent protests. Liberals, of course, labeled Fang a racist. Many left-leaning media outlets wrote messages of support that Fang was a racist, and to save his career, Fang had to craft a public apology for “insensitivity to the lived experiences of others.”

Taibbi reached out to Max who said “I couldn’t believe they were coming for the man’s job over something I said. It was not Lee’s opinion. It was my opinion.”

There’s also the forced resignation of James Bennet after an anti-protest op-ed written by Sen. Tom Cotton. The Philadelphia Inquirer editor Stan Wischowski who had been with the newspaper for 20 years and fired. Over what? He had approved an article entitled “Buildings matter too.”

The press is too paralyzed to say anything. What about Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer kneeling while dressed in “African kente cloth scarves”? Aren’t journalists even a bit intrigued by this? The left media platforms have been misreporting reality for so long to push their political goals that they have gotten lost in the madness along the way. Tweaking the truth and lying to create their own version of events is exactly what the mainstream media is today.

The news outlets don’t see their job as reporting the news anymore. Instead, they see their job as supporting the liberal agenda. If not, they might just get fired.
